Bicolour Parrotfish
Hand painted on 7-ply maple wood, and measuring 79cm x 20cm this deck is inspired by the remarkable Parrotfish:
Named after the beak-like mouths with which they rasp algae from coral and other rocky substrate the parrotfish is an integral part of the coral reef system. Not only does their coral crunching feeding behaviour prevent reefs from being overgrown by seaweed and sponges, but they excrete the indigestible parts of the coral as sand, helping create small islands and pristine white beaches. So next time you’re pinning a photo of a palm fringed sandy atoll on your holiday destination vision board you might want to bear in mind that your idea of paradise is to bask on a bed of fish shit, you weirdo.
