PACIFIC FISHYWISHY PADDLES
Are the paddles functional or just decorative?
The wood and graphics are oiled, waxed, stained, varnished, or all of the above to protect them from the elements during use. They’re also designed to be lightweight and comfortable to use over long periods of time.
What size are the paddles?
The total length is about 137cm from the top of the handle to the bottom of the blade. This length suits most adults, but if you’re quite tall, short, or the paddle is for a child and you’d like a custom length just get in touch.
What’s the estimated time of delivery?
Allow 2 weeks for the paddle to be dispatched, as each paddle is made to order. Following that the delivery time will depend on the postage option selected. If you’re in Melbourne and want to avoid postage altogether you’re welcome to swing by and pick it up. We’re in Newport.
Is each paddle a one-off?
Yes and no. They’re an open edition, but given the variations in timber and the fact the paddles are hand painted there will be some variation within each design.
What’s Shou Sugi Ban?
Shou Sugi Ban is a traditional Japanese method of protecting wood from water and weather by charring it with fire. This burns out the cellulose or soft wood, leaving the grain more prominently exposed. As well as having a beautiful and functional result it also dramatically reduces the weight of the wood. All our paddles with a black shaft have been treated with the Shou Sugi Ban method, and further protected with natural Tung oil.
MONSTER MAYHEM LAMPS
Are the lamps fragile?
The lamps have been coated in resin to add structural integrity, but as they are made of many different pieces they should be handled with care. Some pieces, such as the snakes, are rubber and should not be used as a carrying point as they naturally flex. The best way to pick up a lamp is to hold it with one hand by the light socket (without bulb inserted), while supporting the base with your other hand.
Are the photos of the lamps on the site exactly what my lamp will look like?
Nope. They’re all one-offs and the toys used in their construction depend on what we can find at any given time. That said, if you want a particular emphasis to be put on something like snakes, dinosaurs, insects or wild animals get in touch and we’ll see what we can do. Just bear in mind that action figures and transformer robots are particularly hard to source.
What kind of plug do the lamps have?
The lamps have an Australian plug (also used in New Zealand). Australia and NZ operate on a 240V AC, 50Hz mains power supply. If you live outside these two countries you’ll need to check whether a simple plug adapter will be sufficient to use it where you are (likely), or whether the mains voltage would require it to run through a transformer in addition (unlikely). If you’re in the UK, what’s up with those gigantic wall plugs you… they’re medieval and the rest of the world is laughing at you.
